Business Profile

A.D.E Wills - Always looking ahead A.D.E Wills offers innovative Will writing and LPA services for individuals and couples, providing the specialist legal advice expected from solicitors with the simple and accessible Will writing methods offered by online companies. We ensure that people understand what their Will can be used for and how best to use a Will to leave the legacy they wish.

The clarity, transparency and honesty on which the business prides itself is exemplified in its choice of name. "A.D.E" stands for "Advise, Draft and Execute", highlighting the three main types of Will writing services the business provides through the three main stages involved in writing a Will.

Our clients are individuals and families who wish to plan ahead and prepare for what is to happen to their estate in the instance of their death or any accident or illness which prevents them from making their own decisions. A.D.E Wills offers a variety of Will writing and LPA services, whether online, over the telephone or in the client's home, including:

• Advice Consultations
• Will Reviewing
• Will Drafting
• Will Revisions
• Will Executions
• Letters of Wishes Drafting
• Joint Tenancy Severance
• Land Registry Title Searches
• Testamentary Capacity Investigations
• LPA Drafting
• Trust creations

While there are numerous law firms providing Will writing services, these are more of an add-on service to their area of expertise. This has resulted in Wills and Probate being the third most complained area of law provided by solicitors.

While there are several professional Will writers in Oxford, they fail to make use of technology to make Will writing easier and more accessible to older generations who have been forced in to lockdown, or are too afraid to leave their home.

Moreover, they simply write Wills, but fail to raise awareness of the change in family structures across the UK which are not recognised by the intestacy rules and that these are resulting in rising inheritance disputes, each year.

A.D.E Wills emphasises the importance in writing a Will as the only means of effectively looking after a person's family and loved ones, and their availability to help with cost-effective services. People who have remarried, have children from previous relationships, have an unmarried partner or are scared of their property being claimed by a greedy ex-partner or relative, will have reassurance and peace of mind that their wishes are documented and legally valid.

All Will writing services will be provided by a highly qualified and registered member of the Society of Will Writers, with the required level of insurance cover.

Our most valuable asset is our website. It is a one-stop shop showcasing all the services available, what is involved in each package and their prices. Here, we update our clients on industry-related news and legal insights through our articles. We invest our time, effort and resources to become the number one online Will writer in Oxfordshire, providing a national service, with a local touch. Our website use is supplemented by the use of our social media accounts to further publicise our work in the community and for our clients.

It never occurred to 13% of people to write their Will, whilst the cohabiting-couple family is the fastest growing family structure in the UK. We distribute business literature in targeted areas of Oxfordshire to act as a reminder and raise awareness of issues which affect the Will writing industry, but also relates to the individual given their family structure.

A.D.E Wills is focused on benefitting local communities through its service provisions. As such, we work closely with charities to raise awareness of charitable legacy opportunities, donating a portion of our profits to their cause. We then use the creation of relationships with the charity's patrons to then highlight the importance of a Will for their family.

A.D.E Wills is headquartered in the city of Oxford. The business is managed by owner and Head Estate Planner, Edward Richings. Edward has a passion for innovation and providing an experience with every service. As such, Edward takes a hands-on management role in the business.

Due to the online and telephone nature of the services, A.D.E Wills offers its services nationwide and locally. The human touch is not lost in either instance as, whilst home visits are available to those in Oxfordshire, all nationwide clients receive an online or telephone meeting with Edward to discuss their Will or LPA.

Our Core Values 1. Always give excellent value for money (efficient and effective, but not at the expense of quality)
2. Always serve our clients (listen, earn trust and act in their best interests)
3. Always think big (be comprehensive, but concise)
4. Always uphold standards (promote good practice and protect the industry)
5. Always innovate (ask for feedback, be a pioneer)
6. Always look to give, give, give (professional service to our clients and help to the community.

A.D.E Wills - Edward Richings Edward has a keen desire to create, innovate, learn new skills, read, write, teach and work with numbers. However, most importantly, 'family' is an integral value of his, and he has a need to protect and provide solutions.

He has seen the devastating effects on a family which has been torn apart through manipulation, discord and hostility as a result of inheritance disputes.

A.D.E Wills gives him the opportunity and freedom to teach people about the ways in which they can avoid destructive inheritance disputes and innovate new ways to protect the futures of families by writing Wills and making Lasting Powers of Attorney in a simple, accessible and affordable format.

He has worked as a paralegal and trainee solicitor in a law firm in Buckinghamshire and London, spending much of his time working in the Private Client department, assisting with Wills, Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

He wrote approximately 40 Wills in this time and provided numerous client consultations, dealing with questions and discussions pertaining to considerations of drafting, inheritance tax and testamentary capacity.

He assisted in several probate matters, liaising with the Probate Registry and HMRC and drafted IHT forms and probate application documents. He assisted on matters for international clients with UK assets, and covered miscellaneous applications and issues, such as caveats and statutory declarations due to signatory issues in the Will.

He also provided clients with advice-only meetings on the process of completing and registering a Lasting Power of Attorney ("LPA"), advising on the current system, types of LPAs, the process for registration and the considerations when completing them.

He would also advise on alternative routes, such as the need for deputyship applications where the applicant had already lost mental capacity. He drafted the LPAs themselves, ensured they were duly witnessed and then registered them with the Office of the Public Guardian.

He has also assisted in the running of businesses and departments, having been placed in charge of social media management and reviews for the firm as well as producing marketing content.

The firm obtained a new immigration department within a few weeks of his commencement date. He entered the department with no experience in this area of law to help transition the new department into the firm.

It was a relatively small department, consisting of a senior caseworker, himself and two part-time trainee caseworkers. The senior caseworker would habitually be out of the office and the two part-time workers were absent for study and exam commitments. The team relied on him to keep the new department progressing in their absences, with the part-time workers asking for direction and assistance. He had responsibility for managing his casework, the other members' casework, clients' expectations and his work from other departments.

He did so to ensure that the cases were managed accordingly and received several highly positive client feedbacks for his work on Google reviews and through email testimonials.

He obtained a first-class honours law degree (LLB Hons) at Oxford Brookes University, in 2017, with an overall GPA of 3.96. In addition to this degree, he was also awarded with the Sweet & Maxwell Prize, after achieving the highest overall grade in his academic year in the Law School, and the Alumni Prize, for an outstanding contribution to the School of Law at the University. Relevant to the Will-writing industry, he completed modules in Equity & Trusts (A grade) and Land Law (A grade); to assist with general legal work, he completed the modules of Foundational Legal Skills (A grade), Legal Method (A grade), Advanced Legal Method (B+) and Communication Skills for Lawyers (A grade).

He then, in 2018, achieved a distinction in the LPC LLM in Professional Legal Practice at The University of Law in Moorgate. On the LPC, he completed the modules of Real Estate (85%) and Wills (79%, including taxation and IHT estate calculations). He also passed the core modules of Drafting, Interviewing, Legal Writing, Practical Legal Research, Professional Conduct and Regulation (97%) and Solicitors' Accounts (89%).

He has a keen interest in learning so he can develop himself and grow through experiences. Consequently, he likes to read, write and teach.

He enjoys walking and exploring new areas as well as playing football.
